Lingonberries - What are they?
Tuesday, March 27th, 2007Lingonberries are found in two FullyLoadedTea blends: Goji Force Green Tea and Bulletproof Currant Fruit Tea. What are lingonberries?
Lingonberries are grown in the wild and are a popular fruit in northern and eastern Europe, notably in Finland, Norway, Denmark, Sweden and Poland. They resemble the cranberry in appearance and taste. The name “lingonberry” originates from the Swedish word lingon for the native cowberry. The cowberry is also called mountain cranberry, lowbush cranberry, European cranberry, and wild cranberry.
Lingonberries contain organic acids, vitamin C, provitamin A (as beta carotene), B vitamins (B1, B2, B3), and the elements potassium, calcium, magnesium, and phosphorus. In addition to these healthful nutrients, cowberries also contain phytochemicals that are thought to counteract urinary-tract infections, and the seeds are rich in Omega-3 fatty acids.
The lingonberries that are found in FullyLoadedTea blends are imported from Sweden.
