Why our teas are the ultimate superfood!

Wednesday, November 28th, 2007

We often get asked how we create our tea blends and decide which fruits and berries to add to each blend. The thing is, drinking tea has been proven beneficial for a variety of health issues, including cancer-prevention, aiding in fat loss, prevention of dementia, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease and helping the brain to focus. At Fully Loaded Tea, we recognize why people consume so much tea these days and we boost the health benefits of tea by adding fruits and berries that have extra health benefits.

Let’s take a look at some of our blends:

gojibox.jpgGoji Force Green Tea - a whole leaf green tea with goji berries and lingonberries. Green tea is a proven contributor to overall health. Goji berries are full of antioxidants, vitamins and essential amino acids. Lingonberries are high in vitamin C. This blend is considered to be our “Super Green Tea Blend” It also tastes great - you can drink it everyday for breakfast and not get tired of the flavor!

What’s the big deal with goji berries? Goji berries contain many nutrients and phytochemicals including: 11 essential and 22 trace dietary minerals, 18 amino acids, 6 essential vitamins, 8 polysaccharides and 6 monosaccharides, 5 unsaturated fatty acids, including the essential fatty acids, linoleic acid and alpha-linoleic acid.

Most importanly, unlike other tea companies, who use powdered goji berries in their tea blends - Fully Loaded Tea uses whole dried goji berries, cut in half in all of our blends! This means less processing of the berries and more nutritional benefits for you!

strawberry.jpgNaked Strawberry Green Tea - whole leaf green tea with strawberries and rose petals. Another great green tea for obtaining the overall health benefits of green tea. Strawberries are famous as a rich surce of phenols. In the strawberry, these phenols are led by the anthocyanins (especially anthocyanin 2) and by the ellagitannins. The anthocyanins in strawberry not only provide its flush red color, they also serve as potent antioxidants that have repeatedly been shown to help protect cell structures in the body and to prevent oxygen damage in all of the body’s organ systems. Strawberries’ unique phenol content makes them a heart-protective fruit, an anti-cancer fruit, and an anti-inflammatory fruit, all rolled into one.

fltbox_shameless_rgbppt.jpgShameless Berries Fruit Tea - goji berries, blueberries and seabuckthorn. This is quite possibly the best “herbal tea” money can buy! Three of the most antioxidant rich berries known to man are combined for this caffeine-free blend. We already mentioned the antioxidant power of goji berries. Recently, researchers at Tufts University analyzed 60 fruits and vegetables for their antioxidant capability. Blueberries came out on top, rating highest in their capacity to destroy free radicals. Seabuckthorn is not well-known in North America yet, but has been used for centuries in Asia and Northern Europe for its anti-inflammatory properties and extremely high vitamin C content (one tiny berry of seabuckthorn, about the size of a raisin, has more vitamin C than a whole orange)

cafestand.jpgWho would have thought that something that tastes so great could actually benefit your health?

August 24th 2006 - BBC News did a report on the health benefits of our dear friend tea and found that - not only is it comforting on a cold dreary day - it also has many health benefits.

A public health nutritionist from Kings College London, and her colleagues, found evidence that by drinking 3-4 cups of tea a day one cuts down the chances of having a heart attack. Tea has also shown to protect against tooth plaque and - potentially - decay, as well as the strengthening of bones. Not only all of that but it also rehydrates the body!

Ode to a Rebel

Wednesday, November 7th, 2007

As a new addition to the Fully Loaded Tea Inc. team I thought I would contribute a little something to the blog to introduce myself. My name is Rachel and I work in the office here. Seeing the haiku in the previous posts inspired me to write my own piece called Ode to a Rebel.

Tomato tea!

Be not afraid of the tomato!
Though rebellious, it’s actually quite mellow.
I was afraid one time you see,
But then someone recommended to me,
Fully Loaded “Tomato Rebel Black Tea”

Apprehensively, I sniffed the brew.
Ignorantly I scoffed.
Timidly I sipped the brew.
And found the flavour quite soft.

We love to do demos!

dsc03828.JPGWe love doing in-store demos ourselves, instead of hiring reps, whenever we can.

It’s such a great feeling to see how much people enjoy our teas! We had an opportunity to do a tasting in one of our store locations at Nesters Market over the weekend and it was lots of fun. Fully Loaded Tea has some newly-minted devoted fans!

This time, we were sampling three of our blends - the Goji Force Green Tea with goji berries and lingonberries, the Shameless Berries Fruit Tea with goji berries, blueberries and seabuckthorn, and the Citrus Spiked Black Tea with orange peel and orange flowers. All three blends were a big hit with shoppers, especially since the weather was so cold over the weekend!

Remember, we have a website promotion with 15% off on all online purchases until November 15th, 2007 with the code 2wFLT.
