FullyLoadedTea’s innovative packaging design takes home Gold Award at 2007 Design Exchange Awards

Vancouver, BC – Vancouver-based tea company, FullyLoadedTea, is thrilled to announce its Gold Award at the 2007 Globe & Mail Design Exchange Awards under the Visual Communications: Brand & Identity category.

As a fresh, young company, FullyLoadedTea is recognized as an innovative leader, not only for its bold-flavored teas, but also for its leading edge package design, created and implemented by Vancouver-based design company Subplot Design Inc. The tea company’s luxury tea boxes feature bright colours along with an eye-catching storytelling component, creating an irresistible connection between the company and its young, urban, tea-loving consumers.

The Design Exchange Awards, sponsored by the Globe & Mail, aim to promote Canadian design excellence and strive to recognize the essential role of design in all effective organizational communications. Created by the Design Exchange, a museum and centre for design research and education in Canada, the awards are the only program of its kind in Canada to judge its finalists by both design aesthetics and economic results, heavily weighing the merits of function, profitability, aesthetics, innovation, accessibility, and sustainability.

“We are thrilled to be recognized for our brand’s bold, distinctive packaging,” says Katya Popoff, FullyLoadedTea co-founder and co-president. “Subplot did an absolutely amazing job of capturing our vision for a high-energy, full impact luxury tea brand, and this award win fully acknowledges that synergy.”

Chosen by a jury of leading Canadian business executives, designers, and community leaders, the winners were announced at a gala dinner in late November and their work – including the FullyLoadedTea Packaging System – will be on display at the Design Exchange in Toronto, Ontario until January 27, 2008.

The FullyLoadedTea Packaging System has been the recipient of a number of other design awards and recognitions over the past year. Subplot’s design was the winner of Coupe Magazine’s 2007 International Design and Image Competition, it was also the recipient of a Silver award at the 2007 Summit Creative Awards, and was a finalist at the 2007 London International Awards.
